LG air conditioning for childrens nursery
September 2001

When Woodgreen Cottage Nursery in Warndon, Worcester decided to
expand after looking after local children for over 7 years, they
asked Graham Sanders Conservatories of Tewkesbury to build a large
double glazed conservatory for use by their smallest children.
To keep the sunny new room cool during the summer, air conditioning
was essential. But with only a normal domestic electrical supply
to the building, starting current load was a concern. To solve this
problem contractor Cotswold Vale Refrigeration of Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
specified three 5.2 kw LG wall mounted inverter driven heat pump
systems, supplied by LG distributor Thermofrost Cryo Plc in Birmingham.
The low starting currents and energy efficient operation avoided
overloading the electrical supply and with 6 kw of heat from each
unit in heat pump mode, no other heating was required. Since to
extend the existing central heating system would have required a
larger boiler, this was a highly cost effective solution.
The nursery Manageress Mrs Joy Hadley is delighted with the low
noise levels and fast response of the LG units, and the way that
the internal refrigeration pipework has been hidden from sight.
The investment in the air conditioned conservatory has increased
the number of children who can be catered for at the nursery from
40 to 50.
