New LG split systems for 2003

May 2003

The new LG split system air conditioner range for 2003 offers a full range of HFC high walls, including the revolutionary new Artcool Mirror pictured above.

A 3.5 kW wall mounted heat pump, the Mirror has similar dimensions to a standard high-wall but with a unique mirror finish front that opens outwards when the unit is switched on. The mirror finish reflects the features of the room, producing an effect that was greatly admired by visitors to the RAC 2003 exhibition where we previewed the new model prior to its official launch this month. The Mirror includes many established LG features including Plasma electronic air filtration, Jet Cool rapid cooling function, Chaos air distribution, IR controller and Gold Fin anti-corrossion treatment on the outdoor coil.

The Mirror joins the LG Artcool range alongside the original Artcool model introduced in June 2002 and its new bigger brother, the Artcool Wide 5.3 kW heat pump, shown below.

LG are using refrigerant R410A in a number of new models to ensure high energy efficiency, and the new 2.6, 3.5, 5.3 and 7.0 kW high-walls all use this refrigerant, in both heat pump and cooling only versions. R410A is also used in the Mirror and the 2.6 and 3.5 kW inverter high-walls. The original 3.4 kW Artcool is also now available in R410A as well as R22, with the Artcool Wide following soon (initially it uses R22).

Other new models in the LG range use refrigerant R407c, which is currently better suited to larger capacities. These include 8.3 and 10.5 kW high-walls (heat pump & cooling only), all the new floor/ceiling convertibles, all cassettes and all ducted systems.
