Thermofrost Cryo at RAC 2001
Held at the NEC Birmingham from February 27th to March 1st 2001

Our RAC 2001 show proved to be a great success, with considerable
interest in the new products that we exhibited for both refrigeration
and air conditioning applications.
Air conditioning installers were greatly impressed by the new 2001
range of LG split system cassettes, in 600 x 600 mm, 840 x 840 mm
and 'mini' formats. Designed for minimum in-ceiling protrusion,
the cassettes also feature a low noise fan which is switchable to
give good air distribution when located in high ceilings. Available
from April, the new cassettes include as standard LG's built in
PLASMA electronic air filtration system, able to deal with smoke,
dust, pollen and mites.
The unique Centre Cool
loft mounted domestic air conditioning system also attracted a great
many favourable comments, as did the LG range of hi-wall, convertible,
floor standing and ducted units that were first launched
in August 2000.
Brand new and designed to reduce the time needed to select and
install a small refrigeration system was the 'Quick Install' packaged
system from Technoblock. Similar in many ways to the packaged systems
now popular for cellar cooling, a 'Quick Install' package includes
an air cooled condensing unit, cooler fitted with expansion valve,
drain line and drain line heater, and a control panel with digital
display. The condensing unit is fully housed for indoor or outdoor
installation.
We have recently been appointed as distributors for the Kuba
range of coolers and condensers, and these were also displayed together
with the new single fan Maneurop condensing
units which are now also avaialble in a Compact housed version.
A last minute addition to the stand was a reduced noise housed
condensing unit designed to offer lower noise levels than standard
without the expense of some units currently available elsewhere.
Based around a Maneurop compressor, these units have been developed
for a major retail chain and will soon be available for other customer
applications.
The latest Dixell Prime series and Eliwell Compact Digifrost series
of electronic refrigeration controllers were also on display, complimented
by the new PEGO electronic control
panels.
For industrial refrigeration the new R/S auto purger was a big
hit, as was the new electronic liquid level probe and the PLLC electronic
liquid level controller.
The lucky winner of the Thermofrost Cryo prize draw at the RAC
2001 show was Mr C. Berriman of CBR Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
in York. Mr Berriman's name was drawn by Andrew Bailey, Editor of
RAC magazine, at random from the entrants who correctly answered
the prize draw questions. He wins an LG Electronics DVD 3200E player.
The correct answers to the questions were:
Q. What is the name of the electronic filtration system
that is built into many LG air conditioners?
A. Plazma
Q. What refrigerant is used in the new "Quick Install" HB
refrigeration systems from Technoblock?
A. R404A
