LG system for CTP printer
August 2001

When Birmingham printers West Heath Press installed a state of
the art "Computer To Plate" (CTP) system for high quality proofing
and plate making, a temperature controlled and filtered environment
was essential for reliable and consistent operation.
To solve this problem they specified a 10.5 kilowatt LG wall mounted
type LS air conditioner complete with optional PLASMA electronic
filtration, supplied by Thermofrost Cryo and installed by Stanley
Refrigeration Services.
The CTP printing system consists of three computer workstations
linked to a dye sublimation digital proofing machine, which produces
an accurate full colour proof of the printed page for client approval.
The workstations are also connected directly to the laser plate
making machine, and once the proofs are approved the printing plates
are laser cut and developed in a single process. This "one RIP system"
avoids differences between the proof and the final job, and produces
high quality plates in the minimum of time.
The PLASMA electronic filtration built into the LG air conditioner
filters out fine dust, pollen, spores, dust mites, paint fumes and
tobacco smoke, not only ensuring the quality of the plates but also
enhancing the working conditions of the three operatives!
