FAQs - Condensing Units: Maneurop

Q)

What types of condensing units are available?

A)

Air cooled, water cooled, compressor/receiver sets and housed units are available up to a nominal 13 HP. Depending on the model they can be used on CFC, HCFC and HFC refrigerants over evaporating temperatures from -40 to +10C.

Q)

What are the differences between a MC/LC unit and a GM unit?

A)

Both are air cooled units. The MG "Blue Star" units have 2 condenser fans, MC/LC "Optyma" units a single fan (except in sizes 215, 242 and 271 which have 2 fans). This provides a choice of format to suit differing site circumstances. The Optyma units are primarily designed for R404A or R507, whilst the Blue Star are for R404A, R507, R134a and R407c.

Q)

What is the difference between the S10 and the S14 versions of the MG "Blue Star"?

A)

S14 versions have provision to fit a pressure relief valve to the liquid receiver. They also use flexible hose for the pressure lines connecting the high and low pressure switch to the system. (S10 units use copper pipe). S14 models up to and including the MG28 and LG28 are also fitted with a larger capacity liquid receiver. The pressure switch on both S10 and S14 versions is auto reset on the low side, manual reset on the high side.

Q)

What is the format of the water cooled units?

A)

The water cooled units incorporate compact brazed plate heat exchangers as the condensers. They are fitted with HP/LP switch, electrical box, liquid receiver and a two way pressure operated water regulating valve (a three way valve for pump re-circulated water is optional). The range up to WM80 are supplied in a fully housed form.

Q)

What is the format of the compressor/receiver units?

A)

The compressor /receiver sets incorporate a liquid receiver, HP/LP switch and electrical box. The range up to MCR80 is supplied in a fully housed form.

Q)

Can you dress, modify or enhance a unit?

A)

We can offer a wide range of enhancements to enable us to supply the condensing unit to your requirements. For example:-

  • Drier and sightglass

  • Oil separators

  • Fan speed control

  • Acoustic compressor hoods

  • Liquid back up for head pressure control

  • Additional LP switch e.g. for pump down operation

  • Additional HP switch e.g. for head pressure control

  • Larger capacity liquid receivers

  • Suction accumulators

  • Upgrade to Cellartemp specification on compressor receiver sets

  • Water cooled units
